The search for the new moose
In 1787, Thomas Jefferson, while Ambassador to France, arranged for the shipment of a moose carcass to display in the lobby of his Paris hotel. His aim was to demonstrate to the scientists of the Old World that contrary to their views, the New World was rich with promising resources. This story is recounted by David Post in his book: “In Search of Jefferson’s Moose,” and provides the idea that sparked this project.
Our story begins…
On a small island in the middle of a bright blue sea, a pack of pup scouts accompanied by a few Wise Old Dogs, roasts marshmallows around a campfire. To their surprise, a Moose appears from behind a tree. He comes over to introdoose himself and tells them a very interesting story.
